Welcome to the Home of the Greening Mid-Michigan Project (GMMP)

The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission, its members and surrounding jurisdictions, hope that by visiting these pages, you will learn about green infrastructure, and our ongoing effort to create a regional green infrastructure vision for the counties of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham.

Green Infrastructure is defined by The Conservation Fund as "Our nation’s natural life support system –an interconnected network of waterways, wetlands, woodlands, wildlife habitats, and other natural areas . . . "

GMMP Breaking News!

June 2009-

Phase 2 of the Greening Mid Michigan Project is now complete! The Michigan Natural Features Inventory has completed the report Significant Natural Features in the Tri-County Region: Providing Ecological Information for a Green Infrastructure Plan. This report describes Natural Communities, Rare Plant Diversity, Rare Terrestrial Animals, and an Aquatic Biodiversity Assessment.

May 2009-

Harmony Gmazel, Land Use Planner for TCRPC, presented the Potential Conservation Area Assessment report to the Meridian Charter Township Environmental Commission on May 20th as part of their Green Themes Speaker Series. April 2009-

Phase 1 of the Greening Mid Michigan Project, The Potential Conservation Areas Assessment (PCA) report has been completed. The Asessment was created by the Michigan Natural Features Inventory, and provides an inventory of areas dominated by native vegetation that have various levels of potential for harboring high quality natural areas and unique natural features.
